The UT Department of Education issued an order to allow private schools in the city to collect tuition fees on a monthly basis on Tuesday, May 19, 2020.
The order was in response to a petition issued by the Independent School Association of Chandigarh.
In the petition, schools asked for the allowance to collect fees from parents so that they can further pay salaries to the teaching and non-teaching staff including other expenses.
The last date for depositing fees would be the 15th of each month starting in June. Parents are also expected to pay pending fees for April and May before May 31. Until May 31, the school did not charge late fees.
The order stated that if the parents were unable to pay the tuition fees on time due to unfavorable circumstances, the school would not be allowed to strike of the child ’s name from enrollment.
