As a part of dare given by his girlfriend, a man wearing burqa walks around the city but later got thrashed by onlookers and landed into police custody.

The incident took place on Tuesday near the Marina beach in Chennai where a 21-year-old ITI student Sakthivel was wearing a burqa and roaming around the city. People identified it was a man from his shoes.  Suspecting him to a chain snatcher, the people in the area apprehended him and handed him over to the police.

Much to their amusement, Sakthivel told police that he was doing it as part of a challenge given to him by his girlfriend.

Sakthivel, who lives in Pattabiram, Chennai, fell in love with a certain girl. He had been seeking intimacy with his lover who put a few riders on when and where he can win a kiss from her. Accordingly, the youth picked up the challenge when the girl asked him to walk wearing a burqa.

He was almost done with the task when people noticed  him wearing burqa with shoes. They shouted ‘thief, thief!’ and later turned in to the police. Sakthivel escaped a public beating by the breadth of a hair and also had a lot of explaining to do to the police who heard the tale of the lover’s challenge for a kiss.

Police said they let him off with a warning after enquiry.
