CISCE to promote class 1 to 8 students to the next standard without exams due to COVID-19 lockdown

Due to the COVID-19 lockdown in the country, the council has decided to promote students. However, the board did not give any instructions for students in class 9 to 12.

The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination has instructed all the heads and school principles to promote the students from class 1 to 8 to the next grade without taking the exam. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown in the country, the council has decided to promote students. However, the board did not give any instructions for students in class 9 to 12.

Earlier, the board had released a notification about the postponing of class 10 and 12 board exams. The revised schedule of the postponed examination will be released on the official website of the board soon after the lockdown ends.

Gerry Arathoon, the Chief Executive and Secretary of Council said in a letter to the principal and heads of the attached school that the lockdown was imposed due to the prevalent COVID-19 situation in the country, some state government boards have issued a directive asking for the students from class 1 to 8 to be promoted to the next class without an exam.

He further added that the CISCE schools must also follow suit of the state governments.

The Central Board of Secondary Education has also asked its affiliated schools to promote the class 1-8 students to the next grade along with state boards like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, etc

Therefore, the Ministry of Human Resource Development has also recommended the schools to promote the students from class 9 to 11 as per the assessment, tests, projects end term exams held.
