Protests over the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) has been spreading across the country with students, some sections of the civil society and opposition political parties holding demonstrations at several places urging the Centre to revoke the Act.

The Delhi-Gurgaon highway came to a nearly nine hour standstill on Thursday with traffic backlog extending for around 6 kilometres in view of the anti CAA Protests.

Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad has been denied permission for a protest march from Jama Masjid to Jantar Mantar on Friday by Delhi Police. The march over the new Citizenship Act is scheduled at 2 pm from Jama Masjid in Old Delhi.


10:20 AM | Delhi: Traffic movement shut in Mathura Road, Kalindi Kunj

In the national capital, the traffic department today advised people to take DND or Akshardham to reach Delhi as road No. 13A between Mathura Road and Kalindi Kunj was closed for vehicular movement.

DMRC has said that entry and exit gates of metro stations have been opened. Normal services have been restored in all stations.

Nine days after the mobile and internet services were suspended following violent protests against the amended citizenship Act in Assam, the services have resumed on Friday.
