In a shocking development, an Indian-origin stand-up comedian Manjunath Naidu suddenly collapsed and died on stage due to high level of anxiety while performing his act in Dubai. The 36-year-old Naidu suffered a cardiac arrest while performing his routine on stage on Friday.

Mango – as he was affectionately called – complained of high level of anxiety, sat down on the bench next to him and collapsed onto the floor, with audience thinking that it must be a part of the show, Khaleej Times reported.

However, after three minutes of no movement some of the comics and hotel staff members rushed on stage to administer CPR.

Naidu was born in Abu Dhabi but later shifted base to Dubai. His parents passed away and he has a brother but no other relatives. He was a well respected comedian on the UAE circuit, having performed stand-up for five years.

His colleagues and friends have been paying tribute to him on social media. Salman Qureshi, who also performed that night, said he could not believe what happened. “My brother, funniest guy around, can’t believe you’re gone,” he wrote on Twitter.
