Rahul Dravid appointed as head coach of Indian cricket team: BCCI

BCCI ethics officer DK Jain has asked legendary cricketer and NCA head Rahul Dravid to depose on September 26 over the conflict of interest allegations raised against him.

Dravid, who is currently the head of National Cricket Academy’s (NCA) operations in Bangalore, had got a notice from BCCI’s Ombudsman-cum-Ethics Officer Justice (Retd) D.K. Jain after the latter received a complaint from Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) life member Sanjeev Gupta.

Gupta complained that Dravid is allegedly in conflict as while is the NCA Director, he continuous to be employed as the vice president of India Cements group, a company which owns stakes in IPL team Chennai Super Kings.

No individual can hold one multiple posts at once according to India’s cricketing body’s rules and regulations.

The notice sent to Dravid attracted severe criticism of the board. Former Indian cricket team captain Ganguly had tweeted, “New fashion in Indian cricket…conflict of interest…Best way to remain in news…god help Indian cricket…Dravid Gets Conflict of Interest Notice from BCCI Ethics Officer”.

Spinner Harbhajan Singh backed Ganguly, “Really? Don’t know where it’s heading to…You can’t get better person then him for Indian cricket. Sending notice to these legends is like insulting them… cricket need their services for betterment… yes god save Indian cricket,” he tweeted.

If Ethics Officer thinks Dravid has conflict, it is his perception: CoA
