Bhopal: Out of the nine audio-visual advertisements the Madhya Pradesh state unit of Congress party sent to the Election Commission of India, six have been disapproved. According to the reports, the ads mentioned Rafale deal and as the matter is sub judice, the ECI has raised its objections.

“There were a few other objections, too. Apart from these six advertisements, 12 others have been approved by the certification committee,” sources told a leading daily.

“There is a set procedure for pre-certification. If any party is aggrieved, they can always appeal,” Madhya Pradesh’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) VL Kantha Rao was quoted as saying. Reacting to the decision, state Congress media cell in-charge Shobha Oza said, “We will appeal against all the objections by the certification committee to our advertisements.”

The grand old party had sent around 20 political advertisements to the EC.

This comes after ECI on Tuesday stalled the launch of a book on the Rafale deal citing Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The book under question, titled Rafale: A Scam That Rocked the Nation, has been written by S Vijayan. N. Ram, Chairman of The Hindu Group of Publications, had been invited as the chief guest for the book launch event.
