Congress President Sonia Gandhi during the Congress Working Committee meeting on Saturday passed the resolution on the matter of Ayodhya and construction of Ram Mandir. While addressing a press conference after the final verdict in Ayodhya land dispute, the Indian National Congress said that the party completely respects the verdict of the Supreme Court.

“We appeal to all the parties concerned and to all communities to abide by the secular values and spirit of fraternity enshrined in our Constitution and to maintain peace and harmony. It is the responsibility of each one of us to reaffirm our tradition of mutual respect and unity among all that has defined our society through the ages.”

Pronouncing the final verdict in the decade-long Ayodhya land dispute case, the five-judge Constitutional bench led by CJI Ranjan Gogoi said that the disputed title goes to the Hindus in its entirety for the construction of Ram Mandir where as Muslim parties to get alternate land.

Meanwhile, Randeep Surjewala during the Congress press conference said that the party is in favour of the construction of Ram Mandir.

“Ram is sacrifice, Ram is bhaichara, Lord Ram’s name cannot be used to divide. Those who do this in the name of ram, don’t understand him at all. The doors are now closed for the BJP to use Ram for its power hunger.”
