Congress Social Media head Divya Spandana booked for tweet against PM Modi

The Uttar Pradesh police has lodged an FIR against Congress Social Media head Divya Spandana for tweeting a photograph against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Rafale deal controversy.

Divya Spandana, a former Lok Sabha Congress MP tweeted a photograph of PM Modi painting “chor” on his wax statue with a hashtag “Chor PM Chup Hai”.


Divya Spandana was booked under Section 67 of The Information Technology (Amendment) Act and sedition (Section 124A) of the Indian Penal Code based on a complaint filed by a Lucknow-based lawyer Syed Rizwan Ahmad on Tuesday, September 25.

Lawyer Syed claimed that he made a complaint after she refused to remove the post. He argued that this was an attack on the Indian Republic and PM Modi. He also claimed he had “nothing to do with BJP/RSS”.

Syed also urged people to support one Vibhor Anand, who is raising funds on a crowdfunding platform Vibhor Anand who wants to file Rs 10,000 crore civil defamation suit against Divya Spandana for the same tweet.
