New Delhi: The Congress on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Modi government over the transfer of Justice Murlidhar who asked Delhi police on Wednesday to register FIR against leaders involved in making hate speeches.

Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said, “BjP feared that the conspiracy of the riots will get exposed and this is the reason why the Justice Murlidhar has been transferred,” adding that the transfer is an attempt to save the BJP leaders against whom Murlidhar had made strong observations.

“This shows the wrong intention of the government who is trying to shield the accused and will go to any extent to save them but our judiciary is on the pilars of Satyamev Jayate, the truth will prevail at the end,” said Surjewala.

While the Supreme Court Collegium recommended the transfer of Justice Murlidhar in mid February, it was notified on Wednesday late evening. To this Randeep Surjewala said that the collegium recommended transfer of many judges but only the name of Murlidhar was notified who directed Delhi police to act.

The Congress alleged that Justice Geeta Mittal, whose orders irked the government on shell companies, was transferred from Delhi High Court to Jammu and Kashmir High court and the government also stalled the appointment of Gopal Subramaniam as the Supreme Court Judge.

Randeep Surjewala said, “I hope that at 2 p.m. today, when the case will be heard the Hon’ble Judge, will show the same courage.”

He also attacked Delhi Police for its alleged action and said that the court had to show the video clippings of the hate speech of the leaders, while the highest law officer Tushar Mehta was in denial mode.
