Coronavirus in Bihar and Jharkhand Live updates: With 38 new coronavirus cases, the total number COVID-19 cases in Bihar has surged to 3006, 749 people have been recovered and death toll stands at 14 so far. All 38 districts of the state are infected by the virus.

With 31 new COVID-19 cases, the total number of coronavirus in Jharkhand has surged to 438. The state has234 active cases, 170 recovered/discharged and 4 deaths. While Chatra district has been declared free from coronavirus, Ranchi has 10 cases, 5 in Latehar, 3 in Simdega, 3 in West Singhbhum, 2 in Bokaro, 2 in Gadhwa, 1 in Khoonti, 1 in Palamu, 1 in Gumla, 2 in Ramgarh and Jamshedpur has 1 case.

Shramik trains are running across the country to help migrants reach their home states. As migrant workers are returning to Bihar and Jharkhand from other states on Shramik Special trains, the coronavirus cases are gradually spiking up in the states. From last week, the maximum number of COVID-19 patients have been found among migrant workers who returned from different states.

Bihar’s CM Nitish Kumar has asserted to provide Rs 4 lakh help to the people’s families who died due to COVID-19.

With 6,387 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, India’s count of Covid-19 rose to 1,51,767 today, 170 people have also died in the last 24 hours due to the infection. Among all states, Maharashtra has the highest number of Covid-19 cases with 54,758.

A heart-breaking video went viral on social media in which a child is seen playing and trying to wake his dead mother as she lies on a platform at Muzaffarpur station in Bihar. Daughters break piggy bank to perform last rites of mother

A 45-year-old Rajmuni Devi, resident of Bihar's Saran died suddenly after she expereinced severe waist and leg pain. The responsibilty of mother's funeral came to daughters, as the father is stuck in Surat due to coronavirus lockdown. The daughters broke the piggy bank to perform the last rites of their mother, as they were left with no money.

Petrol price likely to spike up in Jharkhand

Jharkhand government has spiked up the petrol price in the state. The Commercial Tax department has decided to increase VAT on petrol at Rs 2 and diesel at Rs 4 per litre. Vat is currently charged at a rate of 22% or Rs 15 per litre.
