Coronavirus in Bihar: Death toll touches 785, active cases 17,338

With 211 new positive cases, the capital city, Patna remains the worst-hit district by coronavirus in Bihar.

Bihar registered a record of 1,710 new COVID-19 cases on September 10 (Thursday), taking the total number of infections tally to over 1,55,445. In the last 24 hours, 10 patients have succumbed to the deadly virus, taking the death toll to 785.

The number of active cases in the state has reached 17,338 on Thursday. According to a report released Thursday by the health department, 1,543 new cases were reported in the state during the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of coronavirus patients in the state to 1,53,735. During the last 24 hours, 1,480 infected have been recovered and discharged from the hospital. So far, 137,271 infected have been recovered in the state. The recovery rate of corona-infected patients in the state has reached 89.29%.

With 211 new positive cases, the capital city, Patna remains the worst-hit district by coronavirus in Bihar. At the same time, 62 new cases were registered in Araria, 6 in Arwal, 45 in Aurangabad, 20 in Banka, 34 at Begusarai, 90 in Bhagalpur, 12 in Bhojpur, 1 in Buxar, 61 in Darbhanga, 37 in East Champaran, 34 in Gaya, 207 in Gopalganj, 18 in Jamui, 16 in Jehanabad, 4 in Kaimur, 82 in Katihar, 5 in Khagaria, 30 in Kishanganj, Lakhisarai 42, 22 in Madhepura, 53 in Madhubani, 12 in Munger, 89 in Muzaffarpur, 38 in Nalanda, 16 in Nawada, 66 in Purnia, 30 in Rohtas, 55 in Saharsa, 33 in Samastipur, 30 in Saran, 36 in Sheikhpura, 11 in Sheohar, 32 in Sitamarhi, 22 in Siwan, 50 in Supaul, 24 in Vaishali and 54 new infections in West Champaran were registered.

Patna High Court on Tuesday made a serious remark and slammed the Bihar Health Department. The reaction came out after the department did not file a counter affidavit in the High Court for the fourth consecutive time.

On Tuesday, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Corol and Justice S Kumar heard a half-dozen cases filed on the coronavirus. The court regretted the government’s stand and said that they are privately aware of how frightening the condition of COVID patients is in the state.
