Coronavirus in Bihar: A groom died during treatment on June 17, the next day of his wedding’s first night in Patna. The reason for his death is assumed to be COVID-19. However, there is no confirmation regarding this.
According to officials, the groom returned from Delhi to his village for his wedding. However, due to unavailability of quarantine centres in Bihar, he was home quarantined. He was admitted to a private clinic after complaining of abdominal pain on June 17. Thereafter, he was sent to Patna where he died during the treatment.
After the incident, all 125 people who attended the wedding were sent for sample testing out of which 15 people have been found positive for COVID-19. The wedding took place at Dihpali village in Paliganj on June 15. The entire area has been sealed by the administration and all positive patients have been admitted to the isolation ward at Masaudhi for treatment.
Meanwhile, a COVID-19 infected person admitted at Patna AIIMS committed suicide. The 38-year-old man was admitted to the isolation ward and hailed from Khagaul district. He was admitted to AIIMS on June 15 after suffering from breathing issues with fever and cough. He was also suffering from diabetes.
Doctors associated with his treatment at the hospital said that he had returned from Delhi a few days before he was admitted. His health was improving rapidly. However, he was stressed and upset about his health.
The man also went through counselling by doctors several times. His coronavirus test sample was taken again on Sunday. However, he committed suicide before the report came at 4 pm. He was found negative for COVID-19.
The coronavirus cases in Bihar are spiking up gradually. With 288 new positive cases in the last 24 hours, the total tally of the infection reached to 7,893. Till now 5,767 people have been recovered from COVID-19 and 55 people have succumbed to the virus.
