Coronavirus in Kerala: Former block panchayat in Idukki tests positive for COVID-19; reports claim he visited Assembly

Thiruvananthapuram: A former block Panchayat president in Idukki tested positive for COVID19 on Thursday. The reports stated that he visited the state assembly and has close contact with a minister and five MLAs.

He had been in quarantine since March 18. However, he has no foreign travel history. It is assumed that he caught the virus from Palakkad.

He had close contact with many political leaders in the Idukki district and the state.

Idukki district administration is trying to prepare his route map. He has traveled to KSRTC bus, train and car. He has also had close contact with many people from various districts as part of association activities. He also has gone to worship centers.

Reports also said that he had visited Palakkad, Sholayar, Munnar, and Thiruvananthapuram and also took part in some meetings and protests. A total of 126 active coronavirus cases have been reported in Kerala as on Thursday while 12 have recovered.
