Coronavirus Lockdown: Brothers sell land for Rs 25 lakh to feed the hungry in Karnataka’s Kolar

At a time when coronavirus pandemic induced lockdown has left thousands of people without food, two brothers decided to sell their land for Rs 25 lakh to extend support to the needy. Tajammul Pasha and Muzammil Pasha of Karnataka‘s Kolar district took this step after seeing the sufferings of underprivileged and daily wagers. The businessmen brothers used this money to buy food grains and essentials for the poor in Kolar.

According to reports, the buyer was aware of the cause for which the brothers were selling the land and therefore made no delay in payment. They have signed the society agreement bond and the remaining steps to transfer the land will be done once the lockdown gets over as the land registrar’s office is closed at the moment.

As soon as they got money in their hand, the purchased food grains, cereals, oil, and other things to start a community kitchen. The community kitchen, next to their house, is now feeding daily wagers and homeless people.

The duo is also arranging food packets for attendants of patients in the District Government Hospital premises.

The grand gesture of these brothers has won accolades from the people in their area.

The Pasha brothers said they understand the problem faced by daily wagers as they were brought up in poverty. Muzammil was just 3-year-old while his elder brother was 5-year-old when their parents died.

“Our parents died early. When we shifted to our maternal grandmother’s place at Kolar, people from communities, Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims helped us survive without any religious bias,” said Tajammul Pasha was quoted as saying by NDTV.

So far, they have provided essential food items to over 3,000 families. They are also distributing masks and hand sanitizers to the poor. The brothers and their volunteers have been issued passes by the Kolar administration so that they don’t face any difficulty in helping needy people.
