Coronavirus Lockdown: Man jumps off building in Kerala’s Kottayam for not getting alcohol

Kottayam: As liquor shops have been shut down amid the coronavirus lockdown in India, a man tried to commit suicide for not getting liquor here on Sunday.

The alleged identified as Poovam native Sasi is in critical condition.

Amidst his love for alcohol not getting it led him to jump off a building in stress and trauma

The incident was first reported before 7 am on Sunday at Changanassery PMJ complex. As he was too frustrated in not getting alcohol, he tried to end his life by jumping from the third storey of the building.

Police immediately reached the spot when getting informed by the security staff at the building and took him to the general hospital. Later, he was shifted to Kottayam medical college.

The alleged Poovam Sasi is a lottery ticket seller in Changanassery.

The coronavirus pandemic has been spreading very fast across the whole country, with positive cases surging beyond 1000, and deaths at 25, it is a disaster in making.
