The total number of COVID-19 cases in Bihar surged to 1607 after 112 more people tested positive for the coronavirus, according to the data released by Bihar Health Department on Wednesday. At least 571 people have recovered after getting infected with the deadly disease in the state, nine people have died of COVID-19 so far.

Shramik trains are running across the country to help migrants reach their home states. As migrant workers are returning to Bihar from other states on Shramik Special trains, the coronavirus cases are gradually spiking up in the state. Till now 788 migrant workers have been tested positive for the deadly virus.

As per the data released by Bihar Health Department, 55,361 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the test out of which 1607 have been tested positive.

COVID-19 cases in India are on a rise in the last few days. According to the latest data by the Union Health Ministry, the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country has surged to 1,06,750, on Wednesday, while the death toll has surged to 3,303. Of the total number of cases, there are 58,802 active cases, while 61,149 people have been cured and discharged from hospitals.

The global tally of the virus has crossed 4.8 million, while the death toll has surged past 3.2 lakh, according to a data tracker by World Health Organisation (WHO). In the US, the death toll has surged 90,000, and cases have crossed 1.5 million mark.
