Coronavirus Outbreak: Landlord asks isolation ward nurses to vacate rented apartment in Kerala’s Kottayam

The nurses than vacated the house and moved to small quarters of the hospital which is located one storey above the isolation ward

Kottayam: Fear of coronavirus has been on the rise, three male nurses working in the isolation ward at the Kottayam medical college were told to vacate their rented apartment.

The three male nurses had rented a house near to the medical college.

All of them were working in the isolation ward, the house owner was afraid of being that he might be infected with coronavirus because of them. Following this, he asked the three to vacate the house.

The nurses than vacated the house and moved to small quarters of the hospital which is located one storey above the isolation ward.

The storey had very limited space and facilities in the quarters. Hospital officials clarified that alternate accommodation can be provided to the nurses.

According to a media report, the house owner in his defence said he asked the nurses to vacate as he was recovering from heart surgery and could not risk having an infection.

Cases of coronavirus have been on the rise in Kerala, Recently a man from Thrissur testing positive of Coronavirus had come in contact with over 1000 people. At present, a total of more than 100 persons, including two panchayat members, were kept under observation in Thrissur.

The coronavirus positive patient had visited multiple public spaces like a shopping mall and cinema theatre. In order to contain the virus, the govt will be preparing a route map to quarantine the people affected.
