The nationwide coronavirus lockdown is supposed to be lifted on April 14 and post that most airlines are now allowing passengers to book flight tickets. However, Air India has suspended bookings till April 30.

Here are the things you need to know before you opt for booking flight tickets

  • Many people have been stuck in various parts of the country. Even foreigners are reportedly stuck in India due to the lockdown. Since, trains are also not operating, expect a rush among people to book tickets initially. Already this rush has pushed fares of flight tickets up.
  • Be informed that the govt has so far not said anything on the resumption of flight services post-April 14. The reports of lifting ban are mere speculations.
  • Most of the airlines are not giving waivers on the cancellation charges and also not refunded in cash. The airlines are forcing customers to accept travel vouchers with their validity, in some cases, as long as two years. Also, the change of name in the ticket is also not allowed.
