Delhi Assembly Elections 2020: EC releases schedule, voting in single-phase on Feb 8, results on Feb 11

On Monday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the dates for the Delhi assembly elections 2020. The polls in the national capital will be held in a single phase on February 8, announced Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora.

The counting of votes is scheduled on February 11, the CEC said, adding that the final results will be declared on the same day.

Mainly three political parties are in the fray for the election — Aam Aadmi Party, Bharatiya Janata Party, and the Congress.

Chief Electoral Officer Sunil Arora, whose tenure is ending on February 22, said that he held a meeting with Chief Secretary and senior officials last month about holding elections.

Ninety thousand officials are to be deployed for poll duties, he said. Additional secretaries will look after the deployment of officers.

Teams for monitoring the media have also been formed, informed the Election Commission.
