New Delhi: An FIR has been filed against a man for bursting crackers on the intervening night of 21st-22nd September Delhi’s Chanakyapuri. The case has been registered under Section 188(Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code.

The man was celebrating the birth of his daughter by bursting crackers when the defence agencies got alerted. Police received a complaint from SPG’s (Special Protection Group) control room that someone is firing crackers near the Prime Minister’s house.

According to Police, it is illegal to bust high-intensity crackers in Delhi. The Supreme Court in October, 2018 had said only green crackers with reduced emission levels will be sold in Delhi. The court had permitted the cracker manufacturers to produce green crackers with reduced emission level, disallowing the barium salts as an ingredient in the crackers.
