A major fire broke out at the furniture market near Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj metro station early on Friday morning, affecting the train services on the Magenta Line. Train movement was temporarily stopped between Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh and Kalindi Kunj Metro stations but resumed after 10 AM.

The fire was reported around 5:55 am and it is yet to be doused down.

A total of 15 fire tenders were present at the spot. Fire officials said no injuries have been reported in the incident so far. The fire has been brought under control after it raged for several hours in the morning. The reason behind the huge fire is not known yet.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in a statement on Twitter said that “Train movement has been stopped temporarily between Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh and Kalindi Kunj due to smoke and fire from a fire underneath the section. We regret the inconvenience.”

It further added that “short loops are being run between Janakpuri West and Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh and there will be no service between Kalindi Kunj and Botanical Garden temporarily.”
