A Delhi nurse has approached an Indian player during the IPL 2020 held in UAE this year and tried to get some confidential information from the team. The nurse works in a private hospital in Delhi. The woman is alleged to have sought confidential information from the player through social media for the purpose of betting in the IPL match.

“The nurse had approached the player on September 30, when IPL 2020 had started. The player had communicated the same to the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) of BCCI and the matter was closed after investigation,” Ajit Singh confirmed this with Indian Express.

The player who was approached by the nurse has been playing cricket for India A for nearly two years. However, the player’s name has not yet been disclosed. “The player informed us about it during IPL. We investigated and now the matter has been closed,” Ajit Singh said, “The woman who approached the player had nothing to do with any betting gang and his way was very clumsy.”

“We thoroughly investigated the matter and the accused knew the player. When the player complained about the matter to us, we took all the information and later called the woman for questioning. But nothing was found on his part. Now the matter has been scrapped,” he said.

Started Online Conversation with Player

“The nurse had described herself as a doctor in Delhi who works in a private hospital. However, the cricketer has never met the woman. Both of them were connected to each other through social media,” he said.

The cricketer had said that she had no knowledge of the woman where she lives and what she does. During an online conversation, she said that she wanted to speculate and that she wanted to get some information about the match and playing XI.

Betting has always been a serious topic for BCCI to deal with in IPL. They banned the Rajasthan Royals and the Chennai Super Kings sides for a couple of years as well due to the spot-fixing scandal.
