Delhi Police Sub Inspector hangs self in ambulance after 3 hospitals refused to treat him

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) R.P. Meena said Rajbir Singh has died by suicide by using a piece of cloth in the ambulance. Singh was being taken to the hospital from home during the incident. He was on leave for five days and was also absent in the district line on Friday.

A sub-inspector of Delhi police died by suicide in the ambulance while he was being taken to the hospital. Officials said the deceased have been identified as Rajbir Singh (39). He was stationed in the South Eastern District line and was not doing good mentally.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) R.P. Meena said Rajbir Singh has died by suicide by using a piece of cloth in the ambulance. Singh was being taken to the hospital from home during the incident. He was on leave for five days and was also absent in the district line on Friday.

According to police, the sub-inspector called the CATS ambulance at his residence and went to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, but the doctors refused to recruit him.

Thereafter, another ambulance took him to the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS) hospital, but due to the absence of assistants, there also doctors refused to recruit him. Police said, he was then taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital from the same ambulance, where doctors asked the person in charge of the ambulance to prepare a slip.

The senior police official said that when he was asked to go back to IHBAS, Rajbir Singh became aggressive and started running on the hospital premises. The person in charge of the ambulance then tried to calm down Singh.

Police said, after that, when they began to go back to IHBAS, Singh hanged himself by using a noose inside the ambulance. Police said, the investigation has been initiated in the case and legal action will be taken accordingly. Rajbir Singh was from the Mahendragarh district of Haryana and lived in Dwarka with the family.
