In an appalling incident, a 26-year-old Delhi Police sub-inspector allegedly shot dead himself with his service revolver at his residence in west Delhi’s Mohan Garden on Monday morning, police said.
The deceased is identified as Rituraj, was posted at Paschim Vihar West police station, which falls under the outer district of Delhi Police, they said.
As per the police statement, a call was received around 5 AM from the residence of the cop. No suicide note has been found from the location, but initial investigation revealed that he took his life due to financial issues. The police have taken his mobile phone and laptop for investigation. Inquest proceedings are underway.
“A call was received in Ranhola police station around 5.15 am. The caller informed about his brother’s suicide at his residence,” A Koan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer), said.
Police, however, said no suicide note was found from the spot but preliminary investigation suggested that the SI took the extreme step owing to the financial crisis.
Further investigation into the matter is underway, the DCP said.
