Delhi’ Services dept issues notice for implementation of 10% quota for EWS in all direct recruitments

Delhi government’s Services department has issued circular for implementation of 10 percent reservation for the economically weaker sections in all direct recruitment. The order is effective from February 1, 2019.

“This is for compliance by all the departments, Corporations, Boards, Public Sector Units and Autonomous Bodies of Government of National Capital Territory (GNCTD) of Delhi,” the circular of Services department, dated May 28 read. It has been issued by Deputy Secretary (services) Biju Raj on behalf of the competent authority (Lt Governor). All the departments and other bodies of the Delhi government have been asked for compliance of the quota provision, according to a PTI report.

The Services department presently comes under the jurisdiction of Lt Governor.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had supported the Modi government’s decision of 10 percent reservation to EWS.

In January, ahead of Lok Sabha elections the Union Cabinet headed by PM Narendra Modi passed 10 percent quota in education and government jobs to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).
