On the occasion of Guru Teg Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day and Guru Nanak’s Birthday, the Delhi government has directed ‘dry day’ on November 24 and 30.

According to an order issued by the department, “In pursuance of the provision of Rule 52 of the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010, it is hereby ordered that ‘Dry Days’ shall be observed on November 24 and 30.”

“The restriction of sale on liquor on dry days shall not apply to the service of liquor to residents in case of hotels having L-15 license”, the order stated.

“The business premises of a license shall be kept closed on dry date”, the order further added.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government on Monday attributed the high COVID-19 death rate in the city to air pollution caused by stubble-burning. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said the pollution due to stubble-burning created a big problem in Delhi.

Delhi recorded 6,746 fresh COVID-19 cases on Sunday and a positivity rate of 12.29 per cent, while 121 more fatalities pushed the city”s death toll due to the disease to 8,391, authorities said.
