More than 200 victims got injured due to stone-pelting and shooting in northeast Delhi, among them is a 13-year-old boy. He was shot in his back while returning to home, it was when he was attacked by an angry mob.
Faizi Hussain, a 13-year-old boy was on his way home from school on Monday when he learnt about riots breaking out in his neighbourhood of Vijay Park near Maujpur.
He reached home safely, but his young kid ventured out to look at what is happening? A few minutes later he got hit by a bullet on his lower back.
Doctors told the family it’s wiser not to remove the bullet lodged in his lower spine — so the boy will have to live with it for the rest of his life.
At Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where Hussain is undergoing treatment, his family recalled how saving the teenager’s proved difficult.
“It would have been almost impossible to get him to the hospital if our family hadn’t owned an autorickshaw,” Hussain’s father, Munna, said.
“We were pelted with stones on the way. He was bleeding profusely. I feared that I was going to lose him,” Munna said.
“The doctors told us the bullet is lodged deep inside near the spinal cord. They said surgery poses a risk to his life.” The father also worries that his son, who is an enthusiastic sports lover, will now be unable to fulfil his wish of becoming a national sportsperson with a bullet lodged in his body for life.
On Tuesday evening, more than 150 people got admitted to GTB Hospital, around 20 at Jag Pravesh Hospital, 10 in Max Patparganj and 15 in Lok Nayak Hospital.
Shah Alam, 45, is one of them. The tailor when hurrying to rush to home in Mustafabad area, He saw a group of angry rioters marching down the road towards him with lathis, stones and other weapons. He got injured by a stone hurled towards him. The stone hit his neck and left a deep gash on it.
