Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and 51 other Aam Aadmi Party Lawmakers were detained on their way to 7 RCR, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence on Sunday morning. The entire march was planned to protest against the arrest of Sangam Vihar MLA Dinesh Mohaniya and the Centre returning 14 of their Bills.

Accusing the Prime Minister of not letting the Delhi government work, Sisodia told reporters, “We will all go and surrender ourselves to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. There is an attempt by the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) to stop the AAP government from working.” He added, “You (Modi) have problems with us but why hold up the Bills. Modiji only wants to do politics even if people of Delhi will have to suffer for it.”

The matter followed a police complaint made by the president of Gazipur Aadhti Association against Manish Sisodia accusing him of criminal intimidation. The recent few days have witnessed numerous tussles between the state government and centre government from the arrest of AAP MLA from between a press conference on sexual harassment charges and the centre denying to clear any of the bills passed by the Kejriwal government, the entire protest was planned after Kejriwal remarked of an ‘emergency like situation’ in Delhi. Slamming Delhi Police, Mr Sisodia said, “At present, Delhi Police is after us and looking for ways to arrest us. Now that we are in jail, at least they will now go after the real criminals,” he said.

They were stopped near Tughlak Road police station and detained before being taken to Parliament Street police station where they have been kept presently.
