Diet Coke in India: Diet Coke is back in India in a glass bottle form after a shortage of the drink in cans. Reuters reported that the shortage began after supply problems linked to the Iran conflict hit the flow of aluminium cans into the country. Since Diet Coke in India was sold only in cans, the drink became hard to find in many places. People started posting about it online and some shops saw fewer stocks.
The drink is now being sold again in select outlets and quick-commerce apps. Reports in Indian media said the new 200 ml glass bottle costs around Rs 100, while the same amount in a can was about Rs 30. That makes the glass bottle much more expensive than the can version.

Why People are Talking About it?
Diet Coke has a strong fan base in cities and among younger buyers. Once the can shortage started, social media users began sharing their disappointment and searching for the drink wherever they could. Reuters said Coca-Cola was also promoting Coke Zero during the shortage because it was easier to find in plastic bottles.
The new glass bottle version has made many fans happy even with the higher price. On social media, some users posted videos and messages about the return of the drink. They even called themselves “Diet Coke Paglus.”

The shortage has also turned into something of a party trend. Reuters reported that restaurants, pubs, and influencers have started hosting “Diet Coke parties” in India. These events usually charge an entry fee of about USD 10 to USD 16 and give guests access to Diet Coke, music, alcohol, decorations, can art, and T-shirt painting. In Delhi, one event was even promoted as a “Diet Coke Party.”
