As per reports, DMK party Chief MK Stalin is holding a protest today at Raj Bhavan for getting the 7.5 percent quota in medical admissions for state-run school students.

During the protest, DMK party Chief MK Stalin stated that “when the DMK comes to power, we will scrap NEET in Tamil Nadu.”

Visuals from today’s protest showed hundreds gathered in a designated area close to the Governor’s official residence without social distancing during the Covid pandemic.

This comes after Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit responded to Stalin’s letter on immediate approval of bill providing 7.5 percent reservation for government school students who clear NEET.

Earlier, Stalin wrote to Tamil Nadu Governor Purohit seeking his immediate approval to the bill, passed by the assembly on September 15 for providing the horizontal reservation to students of government schools who clear the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

I urge you to immediately give assent to the bill and help fulfillment of the dream of government school students to an extent to pursue medicine as their profession,” Stalin said in the letter.

However, Tamil Nadu Governor Purohit, in his response to Stalin’s letter on Thursday said he will need atleast “three to four weeks time” to sign the bill. Purohit told Stalin that he has to assess all angles and needs time to make a decision and also said that this information has been shared with the delegation of AIADMK ministers who met him.
