Durex urged the customer to check their condoms after a section of products failed a burst test. The condom brand issued to recall Durex Real feel and Durex Latex Free products last July after they failed pressure tests towards the expiry date.
Manufacturer Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC has urged the customer to check the batch number on the bottom of the packet or on the foil wrapping of the condoms. Those with the recalled batches can return them and they will get the complete refund.
The manufacturers also said that there is no immediate concern for the consumers as only a small set of batches had been affected.
Durex said in a statement on its website: “We recently found that a limited number of the above condoms made earlier this year are not passing our stringent shelf-life durability tests.
“Our tests have shown that some batches which are currently on the market in UK and Ireland do not pass the requirements for burst pressure towards the end of the shelf life for the product.
Only for the batches of condoms affected by this issue, there could be an increase in the number of condoms that burst during application or use.”
The company advised customers to speak to a pharmacist or doctor within 72 hours if a condom leak or burst
