DUSU Poll 2019: ABVP bags three seats while NSUI wins 1; Check results

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), affiliated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) marked a shinning victory in Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections with bagging three of the key posts.

ABVP candidates Akshit Dahiya, Pradeep Tanwar and Shivangi Kharwal got the maximum votes for the post of President, Vice-president and Joint-secretary, respectively. T

Congress affiliated National Students’ Union of India won one seat this year. The lone winner from NSUI was Aakash Choudhary, who managed to defeat his opponent for the post of DUSU Secretary.

Three major students’ bodies in the fray this year were Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), affiliated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Congress-backed National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and All India Students’ Association (AISA) which is associated with the Left.

Sixteen candidates, including four women, were in the fray for the post of  – President, Vice Present, Secretary and Joint Secretary. The turnout for votes across 43-morning colleges was recorded at 39.90 per cent. Last year, the election saw a 44.46 per cent voter turnout.
