New Delhi, Nov 26 (IANS) Two brothers have been arrested for the murder of a father-son duo after the son gave a dying statement to the police identifying the two who shot dead his father and stabbed him with a knife, Delhi Police said on Wednesday.
The double murder of scrap dealer Zulfikaar Qureshi and his son Jaabaz was reported from Nand Nagri of east Delhi.
The two accused have been identified as brothers Khalid and Tariq, residents of Sunder Nagri.
During the course of investigation, it came to surface that Qureshi had an old business dispute with the accused’s family as they also ran a scrap shop.
“When Jaabaz, son of Qureshi, was under treatment, he had disclosed the names of the attacker. Hence during the operation, the focus was to nab the alleged persons whose names were disclosed. Jaabaaz later succumbed to his injuries,” DCP, North East, Ved Prakash Surya said.
Both the accused persons confessed to the commission of crime out of personal enmity. On sustained interrogation, Tariq revealed that they have a family business of scrap dealing and had their shops adjacent to each other which was creating business rivalry.
They claimed that Qureshi used to make false complaints against their scrap shop, due to which they often had to close their shop for long periods of time. They tried to resolve the issues with him a couple of times but the talks failed. Fed up with his attitude, they decided to kill him, police said.
Qureshi was shot dead on Monday morning and his son who tried to save him was stabbed by the accused.
