In another rail accident, eight coaches of the Meerut-Lucknow Rajya Rani Express derailed on Saturday morning. The unpleasant incident happened between Rampur and Mundapanda, near a bridge over the Koshi River. Notably, no casualties have been reported so far. Reportedly, 10 people were injured in the incident.

“Personally monitoring situation.Directed senior officers to rush to the spot. Ensure speedy relief and rescue operations,” railways minister Suresh Prabhu tweets. An enquiry has been ordered into the incident and severe action will be taken against defaulters, if any, the minister added.

For the travelers’ stuck there, a train is being arranged for rescue. The incident led many trains to be delayed.  While no casualties have been reported so far, a few injured passengers were taken to nearby district hospital.

The train accident has become quite common incidents here. Last November, 142 people were killed and over 200 were injured when 14 coaches of the Indore-Patna Express train derailed in Kanpur. Even in January, 32 died and more than 50 injured when Bhubaneswar Express derailed in Vizianagaram.

In March, 50 people were injured when eight coaches of the Jabalpur-Nizamuddin Mahakaushal Express (12189) derailed in UP. Human error or poor infrastructure is the most common reason given behind these fatal accidents.
