Ahead of Chhath Puja, a video went viral on social media, according to same the cops in Samastipur have been asked to sign an oath letter stating that ‘if they were lying for taking leave from work, their family and children would be in immediate trouble.”

When Newsd did its investigation it found the case to be true. Narayan Singh, a cop posted in Samastipur has verified the affidavit. A video of him has surfaced online, in which he can be seen narrating his incident.

Chhath Puja is an ancient Hindu festival, dedicated to Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya (known to be the sister of Surya) who are supposed to be the source of all powers. It is the only Vedic festival which is celebrated in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and the country of Nepal.

The word ‘Chhath’ is six in Nepali or Hindi Language hence this festival is celebrated on the sixth day of the month of Karthika and that is why the festival is named ‘Chhath Puja’.
