Fairphone 5 tipped to launch tomorrow: Having entered the U.S. market in July with the Fairphone 4, the company is now preparing to release its next smartphone, the Fairphone 5. Leaks of preliminary renders and information from a Geekbench listing have already provided a glimpse of the phone’s design and anticipated performance. Now, additional disclosures have surfaced, thanks to a report on WinFuture by Roland Quandt.
Fairphone 5 tipped to launch tomorrow: Features
According to a report by WinFuture, the Fairphone 5 will feature a 6.46-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,770 x 1,224 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. Renderings reveal that the display will feature a central cutout and substantial bezels.
Initially, it was believed that the Fairphone 5 would feature a Snapdragon 782G processor, but a recent report reveals a different processor, the Qualcomm QCM6490. Typically, this semiconductor is used in industrial applications. Qualcomm provides extensive software support, which influenced their decision. Rest assured, the phone will continue to support 5G. This microprocessor enables Fairphone to offer up to eight years of software updates to its customers.
The chip’s utmost clock speed will reach 2.7GHz. You can examine the performance of Geekbench by selecting this link. Essentially, it will be comparable to the Snapdragon 782G. We anticipate that it will have 8GB of RAM and a single 256GB storage option. Onboard microSD card slot support is anticipated.
The report goes on to state that there will be two 50MP sensors on the back, presumably a primary and an ultrawide lens. In addition, the front-facing camera will have a 50MP sensor. In addition to Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, the report notes that the battery is marginally larger at 4200mAh. The device will not be completely waterproof, but its IP55 resistance will safeguard it from accidental splashes.
Cost and availability
The Fairphone 5 is rumoured to carry a price tag of €699 and is slated for release on August 31, with shipments beginning at the end of September. The official announcement is forthcoming.
