Senior Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram Member Parliament (MP) Shashi Tharoor, on Wednesday, called the story about him writing to the “party high command complaining about the local party leaders’ lack of interest in the election campaign” as being “false from start to finish”.

The Congress MP in a series of tweets said, “There was no complaint, no letter, neither by me or by anyone on my behalf”. He further added, “after ten years in Thiruvananthapuram no one considers me an outsider” and that he is “pity to be the subject of such disinformation”.

In another tweet, Tharoor wrote, “Everywhere I go on my Paryadanam I see dedicated & enthusiastic INCKerala party workers sweating it out for our victory. We may not have the money & muscle of our rivals but we more than make up for it in values, principles & commitment.”

The story that the senior Parliamentarian rejected, had claimed while citing sources that “Tharoor has written to Congress Working Committee member A.K. Antony, AICC General Secretary in-charge of Kerala Mukul Wasnik and party organisation in-charge K.C.Venugopal complaining about lack of support from the local leaders and warned that the results could be detrimental if the campaign does not get a boost.”

Shashi Tharoor is a two time MP from Thiruvananthapuram and has served previously as Minister of State, External Affairs and Minister of State, Ministry of Human Resource Development in the Manmohan Singh government.
