Father’s Day, the day to honor the father figures, is celebrated on June 21 annually. This special day assigned to celebrate the father’s sacrifice and their love for children, is celebrated in 21 countries.

Father’s Day was invented by American Mrs. Sonora Smart Dodd who wanted to honor her father, a veteran who had, as a single parent, raised his six children. The first Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, in the state of Washington. However, it was not until 1972–58 years after President Woodrow Wilson made Mother’s Day official that the day honoring fathers became a nationwide holiday in the United States.

This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, children are away from their fathers. As the virus spread is gradually increasing, people are advised to avoid traveling and stay indoors. However, thanks to technology which can bring people together breaking all the geographical barriers.

As the Father’s Day is around the corner, we are sharing with you ways to celebrate the day virtually:

Go through the old pictures and videos together:

Ask your friends and relatives to send your childhood pictures and videos with your dad. There’s nothing more special than going down a memory lane with your father. During the video call, you can go through the photos and share your screen with everyone on the call

Play online games:

There are several cool online games you can play with your dad on Father’s Day. No matter what your father’s favorite game is, there’s probably an online version available. For example, Ludo King, Pool Live, Chess, Card, and so on.

Watch a Classic movie depicting fatherhood:

You can share your laptop screen with your father on Zoom, Google Duo, and other video conferencing apps and watch a classic fatherhood flick. It would not only entertain you both but also bring you closer to your father. You can laugh, cry, and appreciate each other together.

Express gratitude:

You can send him a Thank You card or call over and say Thank You and make him feel special. Express your feelings about him and appreciate his sacrifice. Tell him that you love him and will make him proud.

Do something your dad always wanted but you procrastinated:

This is the best way to surprise your father and make him feel special at the same time. There are several things dads want kids to do but being a procrastinator forgets about it. Clean your closet, read a book, and so on to make him happy.
