Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap deletes Twitter account after threats to daughter and family

Citing threats to daughter parents, Kashyap took to the Twitter for the last time on August 10 and announced that it’s a quit.

In a sudden turn of events, noted filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who has been vocal with his opinions on social media, has deleted his Twitter account. Citing threats to daughter parents, Kashyap took to the Twitter for the last time on August 10 and announced that it’s a quit.

Anurag Kasyap wrote, “When your parents start to get calls and your daughter gets online threats you know that no one wants to talk .There isn’t going to be reason or rationale. Thugs will rule and thuggery will be the new way of life . Congratulations everyone on this new india & hope you all thrive.”

He then tweeted, “Wish you all the happiness and success. This would be my last tweet as i leave twitter. When i won’t be allowed to speak my mind without fear then i would rather not speak at all. Goodbye.”

Anurag Kashyap’s directorial ventures like ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, ‘Dev D’, ‘Raman Raghav’ and even his acting debut in ‘Akira’ earned him appreciation from the audience and critical acclaim.

Earlier this month, The Gangs of Wasseypur filmmaker – Kashyap was one of the 49 celebs to write a letter to PM Narendra Modi, wherein they expressed concerns over the growing cases of lynching in India.

On the work front, Anurag Kashyap is all set to return with the second season of his popular and acclaimed Netflix series, Sacred Games on August 15. In addition this, he isalso engaged in next creative production Saand Ki Aankh, starring Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar.
