The self-styled cow vigilantes beat five people in Faridabad on doubt of carrying beef on Saturday in yet another incident. The vigilantes also thrashed an auto driver while chanting ‘Jai Hanuman’, reported News18.com.

The report also claimed that the police booked the victim for allegedly smuggling beef. However, no case has been registered against the cow vigilantes.

“The police will do due diligence before filing the FIR. If any persons are caught carrying beef, then it is a case for the police,” said Raman Malik, a member of the ruling BJP in Haryana, reported DNA.

The Supreme Court last month told all state governments to employ a senior police officer as a nodal officer in each district to make sure incidents of cow vigilantism stopped and dealt efficiently.

Several cases of cow vigilantism are being reported from different parts of the country recently.
