Fleabag season 3: 2016’s Fleabag has been a force of nature ever since its release. It was first performed in 2016 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as a one-woman show, but since then, Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s brainchild, in which she also performs, has gone from strength to strength.
Now, Fleabag is a critically acclaimed drama series and is regarded as one of the best television programmes available, with Waller-Bridge’s ability to combine razor-sharp humour with heartbreaking moments seemingly unrivalled.
However, will the greatest comedy series of the past decade continue? Or did it conclude with season two? Here’s what we know about the release date.
Fleabag Season 3
Fleabag season 3 has not been announced, and there is no possibility that it will premiere before early 2025.
However, if we’re being honest, we don’t see it occurring. Fleabag told a wonderful, complete, and self-contained story throughout its two seasons, and if we were to return to that world, Fleabag’s character development would likely be undone.
Who would appear in Fleabag season 3?
Fleabag would not be the same without Phoebe Waller-Bridge, so if a third season were to be announced, we can be certain that she and a few other familiar characters would return.Among these would be her family, with Sian Clifford as Claire and Bill Paterson as Dad, as well as new performers playing new characters.
Here is our complete speculative character list for Fleabag season 3:
- Phoebe Waller-Bridge in the role of Fleabag
- Sian Clifford portraying Claire
- Andrew Scott in the role of The Priest
- Bill Paterson as Father
- Olivia Colman portrays Matriga.
- Brett Gelman portraying Martin
- Jenny Rainsford portraying Boo
What would season three of Fleabag be about?
A third season of Fleabag would likely concentrate on how Fleabag and Claire’s lives have evolved since the conclusion of the second season.
After The Priest terminated their relationship for good, Fleabag appeared determined to make significant life changes, as evidenced by her refusal to allow us to follow her and her waving us off.
Fleabag has finally opened herself up to love and reconciled with her sister Claire, but she still has a lot of recovery to do, particularly in terms of coping with Boo’s death and the conclusion of her relationship with The Priest.
Fleabag’s rehabilitation journey and the enduring impact of her relationship with The Priest would likely be prominent themes in a third season, though we’d love to see Andrew Scott reprise his role, even if it doesn’t necessarily serve the plot.
We would also be interested in examining Fleabag’s relationship with Claire and how it has changed since Claire broke up with Martin (finally! ), as well as her relationships with the rest of her family. Fleabag will be forced to confront her guilt in novel and unexpected ways if Boo’s suitor reappears.
There are also elements from the Fleabag one-woman show (from which the series originated) that could be adapted for season 3, particularly since the show’s popularity has increased since it was recorded and distributed by National Theatre Live.
Is there a trailer for Fleabag season 3?
Unsurprisingly, there is no Fleabag season 3 trailer given the lack of information regarding a Fleabag season 3.
But if you’d like to feel your heart ripped out of your chest once more, here’s the now-famous “it’ll pass” scene that concluded the series flawlessly.
Where can I watch season three of Fleabag?
If a third season of Fleabag were to be produced, the BBC iPlayer and Amazon Prime Video would be your first ports of call.
BBC iPlayer is a UK-based streaming service that does not require a subscription; a TV licence is all that is required. Similar to the first two seasons of Fleabag, the series would presumably premiere on television before becoming available on iPlayer shortly thereafter.
As for those on the other side of the Atlantic, we assume the series will eventually be available on Amazon Prime Video.
But all of this is hypothetical. What we do know is that UK viewers can watch the first two seasons of Fleabag on iPlayer, whereas American viewers should use Amazon Prime.
How many episodes would Fleabag Season 3 have?
If a third season of Fleabag were ordered, we would anticipate six episodes. This would maintain the same output as the previous two seasons, which each had six episodes lasting approximately half an hour.
