Former Trinamool MP and Bengali actor Tapas Pal passes away due to cardiac arrest

Tapas Pal, former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP and popular Bengali actor, died in the early morning of Tuesday in Mumbai due to cardiac arrest. Tapas was 61 years old. He was born on September 29, 1958.
Tapas started his acting career at an early age and hit off with the Bengali cinemas. Pal was elected twice from West Bengal’s Krishnanagar Lok Sabha seat on a TMC ticket. He also won an assembly election from Alipore.

Tapas was at the Mumbai airport while he complained of chest pain, he was returning from Kolkata after meeting his daughter. He was immediately rushed to the hospital in Juhu but he passed away at 4 am. Pal had been suffering from heart ailments and been to hospitals several times for treatment during the past two years.

Pal has also worked in Bollywood films such as Abodh in which he was cast opposite Madhuri Dixit. His movies such as Saheb (1981), Parabat Priya (1984), Bhalobasa Bhalobasa (1985) and Anurager Choyan (1986) became hit. He got the Filmfare Award for his role in Saheb.
