In an appalling incident which took place at Gargi college on Feb 6 in the college premises where the girls have alleged to be molested and harassed by men, they are staging a protest in the campus today.

The NCW has taken the cognizance of an alleged sexual harassment incident and the DCW chief Swati Maliwal has been taking with the students on the incident. She had issued notice to college admin & Delhi Police

“We are investigating the matter and issuing notices to Delhi Police and college administration. Action should be taken against those who did this and those who protected them”: Delhi Commission For Women chief Swati Maliwal was quoted as saying on Gargi college incident.

She added, “Delhi police constables were in Gargi college on duty when all this happened but they stayed quiet.”

For the uninitiated, students from south Delhi’s all-girls Gargi College alleged that they were manhandled, molested and sexually assaulted on the college campus during ‘Reverie’, the annual cultural fest, by drunk men who barged inside the college under the watch of the police.

A student also alleged that when she approached the college principal Promila Kumar, she responded by saying that I should have not come to the fest if I felt so unsafe.
