Gargi College assault: 10 arrested in the case released on bail

In a recent development on the ongoing protests at Gargi college over the harassment which took place in the campus on Feb 6 in presence of police, an FIR has been registered at Hauz Khas police station after the college authorities have filed complaint into the matter.

Earlier today, NCW has taken cognizance into the matter and DCW chief Swati Maliwal has visited the campus and probed the matter by interacting with the students. She has issued notice to the Delhi police and the college administration into the matter.

The students protesting had given the administration 1 hour to take a decision into the matter and after a 2-hour long enquiry finally, an FIR has been filed in the case.

When Newsd got in touch with a final year student, she confirmed by saying “Yes an FIR has been filed at the police station that is what we are getting to hear but we are still waiting for the copy of the FIR to reach us in the matter.”

She also added, “The college will soon release an official announcement into the whole matter while we, the students, are focusing on our demands to get fulfilled.”

For the uninitiated, students from south Delhi’s all-girls Gargi College alleged that they were manhandled, molested and sexually assaulted on the college campus during ‘Reverie’, the annual cultural fest, by drunk men who barged inside the college under the watch of the police.

A student also alleged that when she approached the college principal Promila Kumar, she responded by saying that I should have not come to the fest if I felt so unsafe.
