SP-BSP alliance withdraws Puja Pal’s nomination for Unnao, likely to field Arun Shankar Shukla

The SP-BSP alliance has withdrawn the Puja Pal’s candidature for the Unnao constituency two days before the ‘Scrutiny of the nomination’ for the Phase IV. According to the reports, the nomination was taken back as her nomination would not have withstood scrutiny, due to the discrepancy in her documents.

Reportedly, former minister Arun Shankar Shukla is likely to be fielded by the alliance. In 2014 Shukla unsuccessfully contested against Sakshi Maharaj, losing out to the BJP leader by a whopping over 3 lakh votes.

The candidates could withdraw their nominations for Unnao constituency, which will go for polls in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2014, by April 12, while the last date for filing nomination is April 9.
