Two-time BJP Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, who resigned from the Assembly as MLA, has joined Congress along with his supporters ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections.
Almeida joined National Congress on Wednesday after having extensive consultation with his supporters in Vasco.
“I have taken a well-thought decision to join Congress. BJP is not the same party as it was during the time of Late Manohar Parrikar. My Supporters have given me the go-ahead to join the Congress,” Almeida said.
On Tuesday, Almedia said that he was hurt by how BJP treated him and denied his proposals for the development of Vasco. He also accused the ruling party of systematically finishing Parrikar’s loyalists in the BJP.
