Panaji: Senior Congress leader Ramakant Khalap on Saturday said the Supreme Court verdict to give the disputed land in Ayodhya to the Hindus for a temple and five acres of alternate land to the Muslims for a mosque was a “win-win” for both Hindus and Muslims.
“Hindus can now build a temple at the disputed site under auspices of a Trust and Muslims can build a mosque in a five-acre plot nearby. This is a win-win situation for all,” Khalap said.
“The historic judgement will hopefully usher in an era of peace, tranquillity and brotherhood. I appeal to the die-hards in both camps to bury the hatchet forever and work together to raise the temple and mosque as symbols of unity of Indians and springboards for a resurgent India,” Khalap said.
Goa’s Leader of Opposition and former chief minister Digambar Kamat tweeted: “The @INCIndia respects the verdict of the Supreme Court in the Ayodhya case. All parties concerned and all communities should abide by the secular values and spirit of fraternity enshrined in our Constitution and should maintain peace and harmony. @INCGoa.”
