In India, the housewarming ceremony is traditionally referred to as Griha Pravesh. And a specific day (tithi)/time (shubh muhurat) is chosen for conducting a puja before seeking shelter under the newly bought/built home. The timing and date must be auspicious. Many of you may be planning to either buy a new home or conduct a housewarming ceremony in the upcoming year.
According to Astrologer Pandit Sujeet Ji Maharaj, the Uttar Bhadrapad, Uttar Phalguni, Uttarshadha, Rohini, Margashira, Chitra and Anuradha Nakshatra are ideal for organising the ceremony.
Coming to the Tithis (dates as per the Hindu calendar), Dwitiya, Tritiya, Panchami, Shashti, Saptami, Dashami, Ekadashi, Dwadashi, and Tradyodashi are deemed auspicious for Griha Pravesh. However, the first shubh muhurat for housewarming in 2021 falls in May. So, those planning to organise their Griha Pravesh will have to wait for over four months because there are no shubh muhurat between January and April.
