DTC contractual workers threatens to field candidate in upcoming Lok Sabha polls against AAP

New Delhi: Taking an inspiration from the Aam Admi Party protest’s politics, agitating contractual workers of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) are planning to contest in upcoming Lok Sabha polls in all the seven parliamentary seats of Delhi to teach the ruling party a lesson.

Agitating DTC workers are sitting on a protest for the last 20 days at Indraprastha depot, DTC headquarter.

“Aam Admi Party came to power by doing dharna politics and we all were part of that movement, now when we are raising our genuine demands and following the same democratic path, we are being sacked from our jobs,” said Lalit a contractual conductor with DTC.

“Whether we win or not that is not our concern. We are the second largest workforce of the state government and serve the people of Delhi. We will reach out to all the passengers on a daily basis and all the DTC workers will campaign for our candidate in the bus. We will definitely give a dent to AAP vote bank of the common man,” said Lalit.

“If needed we will field our candidate in all the seven Lok Sabha seats against the AAP candidate,” said Lalit.

Sitting on a protest dharna at the DTC headquarter these contractual workers are waiting for the last 20 days expecting remedies made available to them by any concerned government official. They also claimed that the festival of light Diwali was a darker one this year and the darkness are deepened as they have lost their job.

Lalit said, “We have not received the salary for the last two months and whatever little money we had is exhausted now in this protest. It is a matter of survival for us now.”

The agitating workers also said that they will expose the Delhi government and will intensify their movement in the coming days. “We will fight our battle on the roads and bring this government to the ground. In order to mobilise people, we will launch our campaign in every single DTC buses deployed on the road and get the daily commuters who are also ‘Aam Admi’ listen to the false promises done by the AAP government,” said a protester at DTC headquarter at Indraprastha depot.

Deva, a DTC conductor  said, “They have started hiring new people for the conductor job, people without badge and license are assigned duties and many securities staff that were hired by the state government are doing the conductor job, this is totally an illegal process followed by the DTC management.”
